The understanding of how important it is to be seen through someone else’s eyes has taken on a new meaning to me. I have always talked about and created shoots around making sure children feel seen and shoots to let them know how amazing they are and how their parents see them. I recently did this shoot and have a stronger understanding of how important it is for women at any age and maybe even more so, over 50. When Rachel saw her images for the first time she couldn’t believe what she saw. This woman, she clearly knew was her, except a version she never sees in the mirror. Mirrors play with our mind and show us all our flaws, it does not connect, or show us our beauty that is on the inside. Rachel saw what I see, what the world see’s.

Rachel originally came to me because she needed personal branding head shots for her work. We created the shoot around her drumming and soul retrieval work that she does. What was captured was the work, the woman, and her inner intensity and beauty she had forgotten was there. You can find her on center-now.com if you would like to learn more about the work she does or order her book.

Okay this is embarrassing…WAY to many images posting here! I seriously couldn’t decide. Its a good thing when you love a shoot so much you are tortured to narrow it down. These sisters were amazing during the cold windy day, freezing as I wrapped them in tulle standing outside as the sun set. Posing is hard when you can’t feel your body! They are incredible friends and life long ski racers. We brought their strength into the shoot with a few poses of partnering yoga and of course the look in their eyes. These strong beautiful women are amazing people and I can not WAIT to see who they grow to be!

I’m excited for my client turned friend Shannon Hunter Bowser as she has her first show coming up! I had the honor of photographing her paintings the other day for this art show and just fell in love with her style. One piece I am especially looking forward to seeing how she finishes it, is a painting of the Super Bowl Parade in Boston because she is overlaying tissue with an image printed on it into the piece and I just love that! Shannon I’m so excited for you! Here is the info for the show where other artist will be displaying their work along with her. There will be paintings, photography, jewelry, pottery, and more. The event is a fundraiser for the Great Bay Stewards, the friends group to the Great Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve. Dates and times are April 7-9 at the Great Bay Discovery Center. greatbaystewards.org for more info.

I had the privilege of experiencing what its like to have newborn twins and a toddler the other day. I am in awe of mommy that can make it through this with a smile on their face. This mom did just that. I was amazed by her sense of calm in the middle of the storm. I’m honored you chose me to document this important time in your life!

Matilda, the name means strength in battle. I could not think of a better shoot for Matilda then a Princess Warrior. She is feminine, beautiful and her strength permeates her eyes. She is known by those that love her to be an animal whisperer. I see her as part of a new generation of Princess Warriors, equally strong as they are beautiful. I enjoyed EVERY moment of creating this outfit for her.

This idea originated with a session I created years ago called “I See You”. The idea was a session for children that are starting to recognize their own strength and personality. This session gave parents an opportunity to connect with their child, celebrate who they are now and the child’s passions. Showing the child they are seen, heard and celebrated for who they are. The child is involved in the creation of the session and is excited to be celebrated. Here is an article by the Huffington Post about the concept on another level. This session is a gift for both the parents and children as it will be cherished for years to come. I look forward to doing more sessions like this, custom creating shoots around the individual child.
